BroadcastChic Excellent, a Must See
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Allissa .Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
aimanjamilah I first saw this in high school and knew I wanted to become like Ron Clark. I love him so much that I've read a couple of his books. They're equally as inspiring. I didn't end up as a school teacher but I do volunteer teach some unprivileged kids so I try to develop myself with his methods. I still have a lot to learn but I'm excited to do so. I just wish I'm in his class right now.
mandar_cyberfun What an incredible movie!!! I happened to catch it on HBO about a month back and i am still reeling under its influence!!I so much liked the movie..that i got it TV'od and watch it almost alternate days whenever i have time!! I never knew that Matthew Perry was SO capable of acting with finesse. He's brings the character of RON CLARK alive so much...that actually u start wishing for a teacher like him to teach you, well at least i did. The kids especially the kid who played TayShawn have performed brilliantly, but of course Matt Perry takes the cake. I'll be terribly disappointed if Matthew Doest get an Oscar nomination/ award for this, its his time to shine!! My only wish is to meet Sir perry and Sir Ron CLark himself before i die....God bless Matthew and Ron, hope they have great success in their RON CLARK ACADEMY, and if i ever come to USA, I'll make sure I see their academy in Atlanta. Well what r u guys waiting for, grab a DVD and watch it, there's LOTS to learn from it!!!
Syl Why would Ron Clarke leave a comfortable job in the SOuth to go up to NEw York City in the first place is a good question. He wants to make a difference. Matthew Perry best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends is very good in this role as the teacher who wants to make good. He goes to New York City in hopes of making a difference. For starters, he gets and prefers to work in one of the poor sections of the city, Inner Harlem. In the meantime, he has to work so he gets a job at a theme restaurant where the other workers are aspiring actors and he's an aspiring teacher. Once he takes a job of teaching, he is in for a challenge. Since I am planning to become a teacher myself, he does at least visit the students' homes before getting in the classroom. THere are some awkward cheesy moments in this film but it's still worth watching. The Ron Clark Story is true and suitable family viewing. It also shows Ron's persistence in achieving the unthinkable with the forgotten students. When they get to go see a Broadway show, their faces light up. Imagine, they live north of Broadway and most have never seen a show. He helps boost their spirits and shows that faith, trust, and hard work can make a difference. If only all our schools had teachers like Ron Clark.
livedacreer Seeing the preview to this movie i had no idea what to expect, thinking it was going to be cheesy, poorly put together, and unrealistic. However once I saw the movie, right from the beginning I thought it was surprisingly well-done and inspiring. It was not only interesting and based on a true story, but entertaining and tugged at the heart as well. I thought the director did a good job of capturing the audience and getting the viewers emotionally connected. By the end of the movie I had a very good feeling, as if I learned something myself.Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion.
