Brightlyme i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Winifred The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Davis P Must Love Dogs (2005) is one of the funniest romantic comedies I have ever seen. Every member of the cast fits their role so well. Diane Lane played the lead role very well, she brought kind of an innocent but also very fun vibe to her character. John Cusack was good playing Lane's romantic interest, and they had fairly good on screen romantic chemistry. Like I said, Cusack is good, but honestly this is Lane's film, she shines the most and most of the movie centers around her story and her characters deep inner struggles, and I liked it that way. Also in the cast, is one of my favorites, you may know her from Big (1988), Elizabeth Perkins. She plays Lane's sister here and she is just hilarious in this film, I laughed at her character every time she came on the screen, and that was so refreshing, because a lot of romantic comedies only focus on being sweet and forget that it's a romantic COMEDY, some parts are actually supposed to be humorous. This movie really understands that and it delivers. This movie has many very funny scenes with good characters, it's well written, and it also has that sweet/cute factor. Overall, it's a pretty lite movie, and it's also very enjoyable. I really recommend Must Love Dogs if you're looking for a worthwhile romantic comedy. 8/10.
Sweetigal85 If you are looking for a heartwarming, feel good comedy, this is the movie for you. It is a simple story but the best stories are the ones that have been done again and again but in different ways. This movie is full of laughs and has plenty of heart. It is very relatable, no matter what age you are. (though I would imagine young children would find this movie incredibly boring) The acting is terrific and the characters are all very lovable. I found John Cusack's character to be particularly charming and I definitely would have given him chance after chance! The one thing I found a little questionable was John Cusack's profession. Seemed a little odd and unbelievable that he could even make his rent/alimony payments if he wasn't making any money with his boats. But maybe it goes without saying that he had another source of income? Overall, this movie was very uplifting and is sure to give those who are feeling down some much needed hope.P.S. Is there a movie out there where Dermot Mulroney DOESN'T play the jerk? LOL I have yet to find one...
kdmode An incredibly weak, predictable, drab and forced comedy. Hollywood loves churning out this contrived and unoriginal garbage. In fact, I'm surprised Jennifer Aniston wasn't in the lead role. It's exactly her kind of movie. A little into the story, I groaned and said said to my fellow viewers "I'll bet they are going to break into a pretend, warm and fuzzy family group-hug song at some point." And guess what? It happened! It was mortifying. It's especially bad when the actors look uncomfortable doing it and you can tell that they know they are filming a sure-fire flop.John Cusack looked like he'd rather be somewhere else - zero chemistry with Diane Lane. It must have been a paycheck for him. Unfortunately, that's happened with a lot of his movies in the past 10 or more years.
someofusarebrave I really, really hate this movie. I'm gonna have to disagree with the previous poster--I found this movie totally offensive. From the women obsessed with their father's love life to the schlubby, unattractive man scoring a relationship with a woman way too good for him to the constant references to Diane Lane's questionable and certainly significantly less than extraordinary beauty, this movie bit.Not in a good way.Romantic comedies excel when they manage to be incisive and revealing of various societal truths and intimate and this one was simply not.No one behaves like this in real life, and for good reason. Shame on you, lawyer-dude whose name I cannot be bothered to look up on IMDb right now. You are far better than this film.
