Meet the Spartans Audience Reviews 344v46

2hotFeature one of my absolute favorites!
DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Brennan Camacho Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Dr. A I think the purpose of this movie was for ment, specially American idol. Everything looked so fake and the acting was terrible. I don't see what is funny of many of these "jokes". The main bad guy transformed to literally fall a minute after, is that supposed to be funny?Besides ment, it seems the purpose of the movie was to insult several celebrities and their life decisions or how they represent themselves. That may be funny, but again it was done in such disorganized manner that it was confusing of why they were introduced in the movie. Literally, anyone could have directed this movie. It was a collection of "funny" scenes in random order.
robert-259-28954 I think most of the reviews of this film are WAY harsh. It's a farce, for chrissakes! A broad, bawdy romp that riffs on every scene in "The 300," from which it was derived. Incidentally, not to see the original "300" would make watching this film a colossal waste of your time, for this same reason. I thought the star of the film who portrayed Leonitus, Sean MaGuire, was a spot-on, dead ringer for the original, and funny as hell. One the negative side, some of the gags in this movie tended to go on a little too long to sustain the laugh, but many of the scenes in this movie I thought were hilarious, just dying to be spoofed. Again, this isn't Ben Hur, nor was it meant to be. Lighten up folks, and enjoy.
Lammasuswatch What can I say? How can a film be so unbelievably bad as this one is?Like other films in this franchise, "Meet the Spartans" was supposed to be a spoof on a particular film, with references to other movies or cultural references thrown in. In this case, the spoof object was "300", a cult film for some, a tedious pop video for others. I thought, just maybe "Meet the Spartans" may be more palatable than the pretentious "300", with some humorous spoofing added to the formula. I could not have been more wrong! "300" made its antecedent "300 Spartans" look like multi Academy Award material. And "Meet the Spartans" made "300" look like high art - a feat in itself!I didn't laugh a single time. I think laughing was supposed to be the point of it, but who knows? Indeed the thought processes, maturity, film-making skill and sense of direction of whoever was ultimately responsible for this dog's breakfast of a movie are not something I would like to investigate closely. In a film in which nothing could be said to be a high point, the really lowest point was an extended rap dancing sequence. (Don't bother asking what rap dancing was doing in this film!) This was an exercise in endurance - it just kept going on - and on - and on. And this sequence probably took up a tenth of the whole hour or so of storyline running time. Or it seemed like it did. But, I hear you say, the movie goes for 86 minutes! Well, after the end of the actual film storyline, the viewer gets to see (apparently all) the out-takes for another interminable period. Were these deemed too funny to be put in the film, or too unfunny, or too irrelevant? Your guess is as good as mine. The editor must have been barkingly high or dead drunk to have got through putting this film together. All I can say in conclusion is thank God I saw this film after taping it from free-to air television so I could watch it later. It allowed me to fast-forward past bits that got just too painful, and it meant that I never had to waste actual money on it. (Although I feel like sending the distributors a bill for my time spent and electricity expended, with an extra loading for having to work with noxious materials!) Not recommended! An outstanding candidate for the worst film I have ever seen. While the earlier movies in this franchise were often quite entertaining, the franchise is now clearly dead, and should be quietly buried for public health reasons.
Theraxorterminate So it's been 6 years but I'm still mad about this movie's existence. I wish I hadn't seen this, if you are a curious person like me please don't look at this movie. It's using one of the most laziest attempt of humor that don't deliver anything original or even hilarious. OK look there's nothing wrong with parodies but trying to use many other movies in one, putting a lot of tiresome cultural references and use obnoxious toilet humor is not only a disaster of a movie but hard to believe that movies like this get's to be presented in public.Let's face it, the directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are truly HACKS. Even their next parody "Disaster Movie" was Godawful and a movie I hated so much I almost stopped watching movies. Sometimes I'm wondering if they ever will learn about their lack of ideas, but I guess they won't since they gave another bad parody movie from last year. But what exactly is wrong with this movie? Well the acting is poor and nothing memorable. The jokes are unbelievably awful and not funny at all. But one thing I hate about this movie is it's art direction and production. It is so idiotically, horrible done for a parody it was almost like watching a bad sketch or even a bad play.I seriously wish a movie like this could be forbidden and stay in oblivion for the rest of it's life. Trust me it is that awful. Is it recommended? I would never in my life recommend this movie for anyone who loves movies or those who loves comedy flicks. Just stay away from this plague.-Infinity/10
