Harsh Times Audience Reviews 2un3b

GamerTab That was an excellent one.
BroadcastChic Excellent, a Must See
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
billnyetheantiscienceguy Needless, out of place violence and swearing (with blasphemy) that sounds like it's present just to be edgy and shocking. Terrible acting. Actors do not sync up with the role they're supposed to convince the audience that they fill.A disgraceful film that stereotypes ex-army men who have PTSD in a negative light.
ladybug-48595 I'll start this review by using the cliché that I want my 2 hours back. This film features an assortment of detestable, unlovable characters alongside a chaotic and slow moving plot. They go places, and do things, all the while moving toward the inevitable conclusion, which by the midpoint of the movie we've already figured out. There is an underlying theme of PTSD, but if the writers were trying to garner sympathy for the soldiers who suffer from it, they sure picked an awful individual. If anything, you leave more convinced that 'Jim' (Bale's character) was an crazy a-hole BEFORE he ed the army, and at least they unleashed him on the enemy, instead of the rest of us.If you are a die hard Christian Bale fan, and think you'd enjoy him spending 2 hours talking in gang slang, and breaking every law in the book, then this is for you. For the rest of the 99.99% of us, there are much better choices. Save your life and don't watch this one.
tomosp1965 I was really looking forward to watching this movie. I took the phone off the hook, dimmed the lights, had tasty treats and drinks close by and resolved myself to watch it in its entirety without any pauses. The thing is, I expected too much and got bored after thirty minutes of action-less tedium. Bales character 'Jim' is all snore instead of roar and reminded me of a small dog that never stops yapping, but of course is pretty harmless. The best acting is from Freddy Rodriguez 'Mike', who plays the subservient patsy to Bales' dominating and psychopathic war vet character. The ' Yo Hommie' and 'Fuck Yeah' is comically overused and Bale is the one who looks miscast! This movie would have been better if more action had gone into the storyline, as it gets bogged down in domestic situations too often. Its far from Bales' best film and only deserves a five out of ten.
Theo Robertson I might have been able to relate to this . A man tries to get a job and finds himself in all sorts of shenanigans. A simple enough idea but one that never really extends beyond that and you're reminded of earlier and later movies such as TAXI DRIVER and that one of Denzil Washington playing a bent cop . In fact the whole structure of HARSH TIMES resembles the one of TRAINING DAY as the two protagonists roll criminals and get up to all kinds of naughtiness Christian Bale made something of a career out of playing scary nutters and here he is at it again . For a man born in the Welsh valleys he is relatively impressive in these type of roles but the problem I've always had with Bale is that he never seems to communicate a sense of empathy to this audience . In short his characters are unlikable and I have to say I did find HARSH TIMES very much an unlikable movie
