Ameriatch One of the best films i have seen
Cleveronix A different way of telling a story
Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
alexanderdavies-99382 "Bloodsport" is where it all began for Jean-Claude Van Damme's movie career. There are several styles of martial arts on display during the course of the film. The person who JCVD is playing - Frank Dux - is allegedly a fraud. He can't prove that he set all of those records during his so called distinctive career advice a martial artist. It's great to see Bolo Yeung in action again and playing a ruthless competitor during the martial arts tournament.
Claudio Carvalho The military Frank Dux (Jean Claude Van Damme) abandons his base to participate in the Kumite, a dangerous secret competition in Hong Kong. Before embarking in the airplane, Frank visits his martial arts trainer Senzo Tanaka (Roy Chiao), who is terminal, and promises to win the tournament to honor him. Frank travels to Hong Kong and befriends the fighter Ray Jackson (Donald Gibb) that is lodged in the same hotel and has a love affair with the journalist Janice Kent (Leah Ayres). However the American officers Helmer (Norman Burton) and Rawlins (Forest Whitaker) chase him to bring home back to the base without injuries. Meanwhile Frank and the dirty Japanese fighter Chong Li (Bolo Yeung), who won the last Kumite, are winning their fights and coming to the ultimate fight. "Bloodsport" is an early Van Damme´s film and also one of his best films ever, disclosing the refuted story of the American martial artist Frank Dux. The screenplay is funny and engaging with excellent fight choreography. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "O Grande Dragão Branco" ("The Great White Dragon")
Dewi Owen Bloodsport is an absolute classic, bare in mind i was only born in 1987 so i didn't see this film probably until the late 90s. yes the camera work and some of the acting isn't fantastic but its what you would expect from an 80s film. I think back to my childhood and i think of only a few films that stick in my head, this is top of the pile. Jean claude van damme sells his role very well, and Chong Li the villain in this film is really "believable" in that role, frightening man with probably the biggest pecks i have ever seen! Based on a true story makes the film even better. Anything with JCVD in from 80s and early 90s are absolute classics!! 10/10!!
OllieSuave-007 This is a simple and no-nonsense action/sports movie, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Frank Dux, who leaves his army post to enter an underground martial arts competition to win the championship for honoring his master, Senzo Tanaka (Roy Chiao). As a straight-to-the-point movie, the plot is well-paced and easy to follow, with plenty of well-choreographed martial arts scenes and action sequences, from the competition fighters duking it out on one another to Frank Dux going against the ruthless and deadly record champ Chong Li (Bolo Yeung). The subplot of the two military officers, Helmer (Norman Burton) and Rawlins (Forest Whitaker), scrambling around Hong Kong to find Dux blends in well with the main plot and delivers some added intrigue and comic relief to the story. The film contains some plot holes, for example, the reason why the HK police never investigated the underground martial arts operation was not explained. But, it's still a good flick that action movie fans should enjoy.Grade B
