Interesteg What makes it different from others?
Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Cristal The movie really just wants to entertain people.
SnoopyStyle Hollywood police detective Joe Gavilan (Harrison Ford) and his young partner K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett) are investigating the murder of a rap group at a nightclub. Joe is a self-confident grumpy veteran cop and selling real estate on the side. He's got a property that he can't get rid of. K.C. is a new-age youngster who can't shoot wanting to be an actor instead. Music producer Antoine Sartain (Isaiah Washington) had the group and others killed. Gavilan's rival Internal Affairs Bennie Macko (Bruce Greenwood) is out to get him. He's having an affair with psychic radio host Ruby (Lena Olin) who turns out to be Bennie's ex.These characters are not particularly fun but the movie wants them to have fun chemistry. This movie needs one comedian in the duo. Without that, the two actors are trying to do things beyond their limits. Ford has a bit of comedic edge but he can't be the funniest one in the group. Hartnett is who he is. The comedy doesn't quite work and the police case isn't anything too compelling. It could try to be a serious crime drama but it's not that either.
Python Hyena Hollywood Homicide (2003): Dir: Ron Shelton / Cast: Harrison Ford, Josh Hartnett, Martin Landau, Lena Olin, Bruce Greenwood: A film so dumb that it is enough to make a person slam their head in a door frame a dozen times and jump naked on an ant hill. Title refers to double lifestyles as Harrison Ford plays a cop who sells houses on the side, and Josh Hartnett is a rookie cop who instructs his own yoga class and desires to be an actor. Plot regards the nightclub shooting of an entire rap group. This all climaxes with mindless violence where Ford dons a pink bicycle to pursue a suspect, and Hartnett takes possession of a van with a terrified family inside. Horrible directing by Ron Shelton who made the underrated Dark Blue. Ford and Hartnett have fine chemistry that works to a comic affect as their lives are interrupted by this case. For Ford this is a major step down after starring in a long list of successes. ing roles are a list of talented actors who will no doubt get over the fact that they appeared in this film. Martin Landau is featured when Ford attempts to sell a house but the role is beneath him. Lena Olin is embarrassing as a psychic. She too is capable of better as she demonstrated in The Ninth Gate. And Bruce Greenwood is not exactly stretching himself as a lieutenant. Well made yet gutless action farce that should have a man-hole cover dropped on it. Score: 2 / 10
nicnik6 Hollywood Homicide is well worth seeing. One could start with analyzing the title and end up with criticizing the driving, but are these really what make the audience like or dislike a movie? They are not, in my humble opinion. that if your horizon of expectations is not met, this is reason enough to chew on what you have just watched. To me, this movie was unexpected. While others may want to call it a bad detective movie, I like to call it a lovely comedy, a parody of both Hollywood industry and the police world. While Josh Hartnett can be unexpected in many of his roles, Harrison Ford really outdid himself playing such a part. So people, if you want to unwind after a bad or tiresome day, do watch this one. It's underrated!
edwagreen The story of two cops who would rather be in real estate full time and the other an aspiring actor desperately trying to get people to see him as Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire."Ironically, the two are great police officers. Harrison Ford as the part-time real estate agent and Josh Harnett, as the cop-aspiring actor are quite appealing in this film. Lolita Davidovich is a tramp in the know and as a change of pace, Lena Olin delivers a comic performance as a funny seer. The last 15-20 minutes or so are phenomenal with a spectacular car chase scene through Beverly Hills. You know this is a comedy as no one gets killed in the mayhem. The ending scene where Harnett goes Stanley in a theater production, with everyone going wrong is hilarious at best.A pleasant change for Harrison Ford and it actually works to much of a degree.
