BoardChiri Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
petteri_e Forget the romance or intelligent plot. The main thing in this movie is manly guns and booms and shooting some badly scripted, badly acted baddies.Normally, this would be worth of 6, but I add: +1 Star for easy and relaxing fun to watch. It had some mandatory "emotional non-fun", but I couldn't take them seriously. Another +1 Star for actors, who made the most despicable rich creeps you would love at end. Their chemistry with each other have bit of the charm of The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) and The Dirty Dozen (1967).Just give your brains some rest and grew an another chest-hair by watching this movie.
Extraneus92 You know what; at least I knew Jurassic Shark would be terrible, it didn't make me feel that it would be anything but terrible. This on the other hand masquerades itself as a film you might like to see with Christian Slater and Sean Bean heavily involved. This film is like a man eating plant; it's beautiful from the outside (the film looks like it could be good) but then when you get close it swallows you whole (or in this case sucks your soul dry). In a way it made me reassess my life a little bit, it made me want to call people that I haven't spoken to in a while and just get back in touch with them, because when I watched this monstrosity my blood pressure had risen to extreme levels. This film touched me, but not in a good way, more in an if it was a person we'd be recounting this in a courtroom sort of way.If you want my honest opinion don't watch this film, the props even look fake, in fact most of the budget looks like it was spent on the opening credits. Furthermore, the directing is dreadful and it's painfully written; nothing really makes that much sense. There's a card playing scene which is acted so poorly I thought that I was on YouTube watching fan made films. Don't waste your time with this.
garycbelleville First I am glad that I didn't read any of the reviews before watching this. I think that if I had I might not have bothered watching it. I know now that I would have lost something, a few good laughs. The first 15 minutes I wanted to turn it off and watch something else but I gave it a chance and then surprisingly it got a lot better. I didn't try to watch it as a serious movie but more of a comedy and it worked, worked great. I just loved to see a bunch of rich pampered babies get bullied for once it was so much fun. Look not a great movie but damn was it fun to watch. I laughed like I had not done for a long time. To watch this movie with a critical eye is just not the way to watch it. just sit down , relax and put on your young kid eyes and laugh.
Mark Bernard (marky-b) I really expected something just dreadful from the hating reviews here, but I have a soft spot for Christian Slater and Sean Bean. So, I took the plunge, despite the ample warnings. The story is indeed somewhat predictable and uneven, and really just sophomoric. Nevertheless, it's still a good ride, and the acting from most of the cast is pretty good. Slater, Bean, and Cromwell are all committed, as well as most the lesser known lead actors. Rhames is always ridiculous, so it's difficult to fault this film for his typically unconvincing, smirking performance. Meaney just played his usual typecast baddie. Some of the lesser characters were played by what feels like friends and family of the producers, so maybe that's where they got some breaks on their budget. Good for them! I was actually impressed what they did for only $8 million, considering the big names involved. They managed to get some great actors to carry this through, and it was worth it and hopefully didn't tarnish their precarious careers. It can't be easy in the movie business, so I condemn them not. I didn't find the special effects and stunts to be the shambles suggested from the other reviews, and found them adequate to the task. Yeah... I'd like to see someone do something as able with their iPhone app, as one reviewer quipped. That's just mean and ignorant. All in all, an action movie that I didn't regret watching, but probably wouldn't watch again. Oh, well.
