Entropy Audience Reviews 492h6r

Matrixston Wow! Such a good movie.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Mikelito What a disted, contrived mess this is. So I'll style my review after the movie:This guy talking to the camera all the time. I don't like being pandered to. This movie is like someone who did something bad to you (i.e. the movie) but he keeps talking and being in your face to you trying to convince you to like his movie and not to hit him. How many clichéd personas exactly are in this movie? It even has a Soprano type guy, a European girl who shows her mammaries, et cetera.Amateurish Acting (AA) - I love failed movies like this for the use of unknown actors you are glad never to see in any other movie again. Oh but let me put a word in about Lauren Holly - uh...not good. The plot is irrelevant. It's probably a sort of autobiography anyway. The "hero" has directed U2 in the past - surprisingly the director has directed U2's "Rattle and Hum". Wow...And lastly the title: "Entropy" - I don't care about why it was decided to use that title but it surely makes the target viewers (US college students) go back and check the meaning of the word they have decided to ignore in one of last year's classes. Heck - I'll go out on a limb and speculate that the true meaning of the title is this: A mess that keeps getting more and more of a mess.An alternative way of being entertained would be reading the wishy-washy entry of entropy on Wikipedia. Enjoy and be "sillyfied".
jojairus Lots of nice minimal jokes. Surreal amusing look at a young Hollywood director's search for the perfect partner. His life falls apart, in an affable way - he's likable. My scratched rental DVD jammed appropriately enough about half way, where there's a turning point. The picture blocked and jittered (almost a technique used in the movie) and ten minutes later the fun began, for me, with the introduction of the gorgeous Kelly Macdonald. If you've ever felt your work or love life's collapsing, and seen the irony of it, you might enjoy this film. It's a sweet story, nothing gruesome or sleazy. Music's minimal and appropriate. No sentimentality - not a trace. Just a nice bloke trying to find love.
kate545 Obviously, director/writer Joanou thinks the events depicted in Entropy are world-class crazy. Personally, I've had crazier weekends.Married someone you didn't know in Vegas? Trite. Get caught getting a blow job on a plane? You know the response. Losing your girlfriend because of your brain-dead reaction to her pregnancy? Hardly the first time. Climb out of a window to escape? Who hasn't done it?Secondly, don't you get the feeling poor old Jake sees himself as the victim all the way through?Joanou seems to be so literal about some things in his story when he shouldn't have been and glosses over the things he should be deadly truthful about, such as his relationship with Stella. At the beginning I wonder why Stella is interested in him unless, of course... and she does reveal she knows he is directing a film in their first meeting. Ah, but no, her original love-at-first-sight motive is left to stand. And even in the end, am I supposed to think Stella hasn't found anyone else(presumably because Jake can't be replaced), that they are truly star-crossed lovers, doomed to live on opposite sides of the Atlantic because of something weird and un-translatable in Stella's brain?
SMEGOFF-1 This is a marvellous film. It's creative and almost refreshing, even with its not so happy ending. I've been reading other comments and some people seem a bit bothered by the film's perspective and presentation. Jake is not a character that you can fall in love with. But you can empathize. He's self-centered, egotistical, creative...i found the narration scenes wonderful, what better way to narrate a film about a film maker, than to have the character physically narrating, instead of just a voice over. I know a few film makers/students and they are alot like Jake, i felt that was portrayed quite accurately. I liked the relationship between Jake and Stella...i liked the feeling of being swept away, but being afraid at the same time. The scene with the cat was great because it showed you right there that Jake is not all there in the head, which made me laugh even more when i thought back to the comment in the beginning about models being insane, and the hint that Stella might be insane herself. I think you can relate to Jake's character if you've ever loved someone and messed up and let them go, or if you're a stella, someone who was hurt by selfish acts such as Jake's (like when he got upset because she was busy working and couldn't talk to him, when he had done the same to her). Anyway it's a great film, and the characters fit perfectly together, even Bono is wonderful and not at all out of place. Highly reccommended. I gave it a 9.
