Sam and Gray are such a well-matched pair that it is difficult to believe they are brother and sister rather than husband and wife. They both share a love of 1940s movies and dancing, and when they meet Charlie, they have something else in common: They both fall in love with her. Sam must deal with unexpected feelings of jealousy, while Gray struggles to come to with her sexual orientation.

Gray Matters Audience Reviews 1r1l1u

Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
TeenzTen An action-packed slog
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Aspen Orson There is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
leplatypus Those are the last movies i watched: "brothers" was about siblings arguing about the same lover. "fuera de carta" was about a difficult coming-out. So the movie is an amalgam of both as it's about a sister making her lesbian coming-out as she fantasized about the wife of her brother!Well, i know now, after 600 movies reviewed, how to spot a stinker. For a short movie (90 min), the opening credits and the first scene are useless, boring and could be easily cut. This happens here: an uninspired opening about NYC, a mute dance session, a jogging, a dinner invitation, maybe 10 minutes to say nothing except they are siblings! The movie really starts when Bridget appears: if the situation seems funny, an instant love struck, a Vegas wedding, an unusual love triangle, the story is far away behind the expectations as it crumbled under the clichés. Clichés about the American way of life: sister is working in a advertising company as it's the main occupation nowadays in movie (see "ion", "13 going on 30). Clichés about gays: always the coming-out, as if they just get up one day and realize they are gay! And coming-out stenches a bit as it seems a confession of a sin, a repentance! The only good thing here is the cast (except maybe boring Graham): Bridget is a sweet young bride and Alan Cumming is great as he uses with talent his Scottish roots! Rachel Shelley worths to take a look and guess what: one week ago, i watched "Flashdance" and she and Jennifer Beals star in .... "L Word" !
acorn74 I wish I'd known more about this movie when I rented it. I'd put it in my queue on the basis of Heather Graham and her strong cred as an actress (IMHO). While parts of the movie were charming, much of the movie felt contrived, undeveloped, or otherwise just boring or predictable. Not to mention the ICK factor of so many people thinking the sibs were a couple... I don't care how big a part of the story line that is, it still felt a bit, um, gross. And Charlie, for a zoologist, she certainly doesn't seem to be very attuned to signals from other Homo sapiens. What was it about her (besides her hotness and some common interests) that made Gray fall for her? The story could have been so much more interesting with a little more depth. High points - Molly Shannon (although I do agree with the reviewer who found her annoying on occasion), the cabbie in drag, and the dance sequences (if Sam & Gray were such great dancers, I wish we'd seen more of that, as the bits we were shown were indeed better than most of the rest of the movie). Could have been better.
siderite Unfortunately, the film is the mud as well as the gem. Two perfect beauties, two usually miscast actors in roles that befit them, a rather original script... it all should have gone great. However, the overall directing of the movie is superficial, most of the actors play badly and the script oscillates between very good and very bad.The idea of the movie was nice, the overall setup, but the ending just blew and the hysterical explosions of badly acted emotion over badly written lines were like giants craters in the road to liking the film.Bottom line: if you are looking for a romantic comedy, this at least has some brain and a definite direction away from stereotypes, even if it doesn't avoid them all. But the quality of it isn't great.
sarastro7 Okay, let me coin a new word here: polyphobia: The fear of polyamorous relationships. This is yet another in a long line of movies which start out by titillating audiences about some kind of threesome, only to turn on a dime and go all preachy about how it is oh so necessary and the only moral thing to find a monogamistic solution. Only one person in a thousand understands the delight of being able to love more than one person, and this director is not one of them. Bleh.Mark my words: a few decades from now, polyphobia is going to be just as big a faux-pas as homophobia, but guess who was too close-minded to realize this? Right the first time: the producers of this movie. And so many like it. Why even make a ridiculously conservative and old-fashioned type of movie like this? Priding itself on being limitlessly open-minded about gayness, it completely overlooks the fact that we live in an age where monogamy is turning into sequential monogamy, which in turn in turning into swinging and polyamory. Open your eyes, people, please! This is a disappointing, run-of-the-mill chick-flick. (But, damn, I gotta say, Heather Graham is the cutest thing alive.)3 out of 10.
