Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Ehirerapp Waste of time
SmugKitZine Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Jack Vasen OK, so I gave an extra star just because it has Karen Gillan. She actually does quite well outside of Doctor Who. What I love about her is her quirky fun. There is something about her manner that just isn't quite like anyone else. This movie had several occasions where I actually laughed out loud. I don't do that much. It was not an over the top kind of ridiculous comedy, but like Karen, it is quirky and funny. One of the male leads, Tom, has a temper and an outrageously foul mouth, much of which is in French. He is likable despite that. The other, Willie, appears at times to be a gentleman and lives with Jane for a while as he writes a screenplay to adapt her first novel. *spoiler* Most of us probably guessed that he was a jerk who didn't really care about her despite asking her to marry. But we see through the movie that the real love is between Jane and Tom. *spoiler One cute plot device is that Jane actually sees and talks to her protagonist from the novels. She discusses with her Jane's block and her love. They even argue about the ending. Another cute twist appears near the end, but I won't spoil that.Karen appears to be *spoiler* completely nude at one point after Willie suggested writing in the nude to break her block. But, there is nothing to see here as the direction manages to cover her in the right places (or is it wrong) and sometimes in funny ways. While this is late in the movie, I don't think it is so much a spoiler. *spoiler*
tonymclees Not got too much to say here, I loved the movie. Beautiful locations, beautiful cast and a story with a beautiful outlook...beautiful. At first i thought I'd be put off with the hipster style of the characters but after a few seconds this misgiving melted away to be replaced initially with satisfaction then with delight. Seeing Karen Gillan's character sporting braids was almost too much though, she just fills the screen with her youthful beauty and she has a laid back seeming style of acting which lets you relax into the story. If you don't like a film to try and be your friend, don't watch it but if you want to get immersed in the lives of some very likable characters, give it a shot.
Richard Greco I will keep it short and to the point:Things I love:SoundtrackKaren GillanThe locationThe RomanceWriters lifeKaren famous nude scene (nice ass by the way)Things I don't love:Feels longSometimes I can't understand the damn accentCliché scenesThe writers fansDidn't fancy her dadTo conclude, the first stage was interesting to some extend but then it fell off thanks to the duration and the twist, by which time I stopped watching the movie and continued working, before going to bed I decided just to watch few more minutes and that's the end of it, from that point onwards I didn't stop until I finished it. I guess I rooted for the guy and really wanted a happy ending in the end. It's sort of emotional but none of the points worked for me, it was more like romance/comedy which is what I wanted to see. Karen is hot as always, got a sweet spot for her (dig red heads) I do like the lead and his style. I don't know this movie which worked for me and I actually feel a lot better after watching it.I do recall saying HELL YEAH at the end and proclaiming my desire to meet someone like the lead or at least share what they had.So, for me it was worth the watch.
Nigel Pope (Nigpope) With Karen Gillan evoking echoes of Diane Keaton in Annie Hall and Glasgow's merchant city standing in for Manhatten, NAHE is a true Scottish rom-com. Gillan is funny, beautiful and displays a real gift for comic timing. Weber looks equally gorgeous and though his delivery is sometimes idiosyncratic, he looks so good, it doesn't matter a bit! There's a fine ing cast too and a 'light as air' plot beautifully orchestrated by director David Mackay. The positive, life-affirming values of Scotland''s biggest, dirtiest, but conversely most romantic city are well deployed as a dramatic counterpoint. Delightful!
