Stephan Hammond It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Stephanie There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Celia A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
lothos-370-690020 Oh John Voight, what have you done? How the mighty have fallen, one minute your appearing in Midnight Cowboy the next (30 years later) your in Karate Dog. I don't know if it needs to be said, given some "people" gave this 10/10, but this film is abysmal. I can only assume some form of payment was included, possibly a crew member or two. Anyway, conspiracy theories aside, I don't have the words to adequately describe how terrible this film is. The excuse, it's for kids, carries only so far. Perhaps we wouldn't have so many demented adults in the world, if they weren't exposed to this form of abuse as a child. The CGI was bad, despite being released 12 years after Jurassic Park, it looks MTV skit bad. The awful script, the hammy acting, the cheesy accents, it all combines to make the audience feel like their being pranked. Speaking of which, if your the sort of person who enjoys watching idiots on youtube hurt themselves or "pranking" one another then this probably is for you. I personally think this low brow form of humour should be banned and anyone who enjoys it, sterilised for the good of the species, but apparently that's a controversial opinion, so I leave with simply, don't, just don't. Don't buy it, don't watch it and don't, for the love of God don't make another one.
BigWhiskers that dog food commercial that had dogs magically doing hip hop dance steps because they were so excited about Kibbles and Bits. Cute for a commercial but stretched into a movie not so cute. The plot about a murdered man,Pat Morita(Arnold of Happy Days fame) and his kung fu fighting dog is just plain silly. I laughed as I watched every time the dog did a kung fu stance ,it was just like the dog food commercial. And how about Jon Voight ??? An academy award winner in this movie. What was he thinking ,hamming it up for the cameras no doubt. How far has he fallen. Much too old to do action stunts most of his martial arts scenes are unconvincing stunt doubles. Only redeeming value is younger kids might find it amusing until the next pet food commercial comes out.
mdbaby7997 I for one really liked Karate Dog it had a good plot and story line... The acting wasn't top notch, it had somewhat known actors like Simon Rex(think Scary Movie) and Ron Lester( BillyBob -Varsity Blues)along side popular actors like Chevy Chase, Pat Morita, Jon Voight, Jaime Presley, & Lori Petti, Colar the computer with a voice? Yep that was her! (also known as Kit Keller in A League of Their Own). But it was still a very good family movie. Kids will surely love it, along with their moms and dads. The whole Matrix movie thing is a little warn out though, especially the whole part with the dog bending over backwards & slow motion with flying specs, it is used way too much in movies now, along with John Voight standing on top of the Cage sign on top of the building yelling he's on top of the world with outstretched arms like he is in the Titanic movie, which is also used way too much in movies, but still as far as the entire film goes it was very funny, it cheered me up unlike most of today's movies. I for one didn't think it was total crap. Just maybe it lacked in some parts...Thanks for reading my comment.
james_jonathan_turner May I just say what enjoyment was had during this dog/comedy/action extravaganza. The film truly hit the right buttons in my head. The funniest part with the dog was when the dog fell into a man trap... but lived! I found the greatest laughs to be when chevy chase spoke in voice. Too many films now have thought and meaning, but the real meaning here was from karate dog! Too many dogs can't speak in film but this film had real incite into the head of a dog that fight like miagimu. Can I just say how laughs and fun explode from that dog. The combination of laugh and drama was too suspensely for my head at times! I await more adventure of the fight dog, for the laugh and fun truly captured the spirit of talk dog.
