Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
ne Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
stacedddunn After watching all 3 seasons I honestly can't understand why this show is so highly rated. Season 1 started way to slow, season 2 was easily the best season but still wasn't great and season 3 was a total mess. People keep saying not to compare it to lost, but it's very difficult not to, especially with Damon lindelof as the creator and writer there were just too many negative similarities between the two shows. Mysteries, questions and plots with no answers or direction. The characters weren't very likable and I found myself not caring about anyone apart from Kevin at times. Damon needs to stop being hired, there's an unsatisfying pattern with his work, lost, the leftovers and Prometheus to name a few. I honestly can't stand the guy.I will say the acting was great and the show did have it's moments, but for me it's a show that never felt like it knew what it was or where it was going...it felt like a show that was lost from the very beginning.
Kasper Pindsle Mild Spoilers aheadI'd heard nothing of the show until a friend casually recommended it to me and said something along the lines of "it's an interesting and realistic take on what people would do if 2% of the population disappeared." Well he got me to watch it with that pitch.Season 1 i felt was interesting, it posed some meaningful questions and had a decent lineup of interesting characters. I mean most of the characters gave a pretty bad first impression but they grew on me. Even though the writing wasn't the best it still had me intrigued. As an atheist i suspected this show might not be for me, i struggle to follow shows/films that blatantly states that "god is real" and everything unexplainable that happens can be explained by God or some divine power. To me it feels like a cheap cop out, where it's like "yeah that can happened because you know...god." and the writers doesn't really have to explain anything "because you know...god."The show felt pretty "realistic" in the first season with not very much "divine intervention" at all except the fact that 2% of the population went missing. But then season 2 and 3 happened, suddenly there were no rules. Anything could happen in this world, and finding any kind of explanation for the things that transpired proved difficult at best. Characters started doing ridiculous "out of character" things and it became hard to root for or like any of them. Season 3 literally felt like the show was getting cancelled and the creators had been promised one more season so they just rushed the story straight to the end without much thought. And by the way, in Season 1 90% of the scenes consists of Kevin Garvey exiting or entering a vehicle. It is beyond ridiculous, i'm serious! Look at any episode from season 1 and i promise you there is at least 5 scenes in each episode where Kevin Garvey is exiting or entering a vehicle, i mean how can you not think of a different scene transition than this? It's not that hard. And also the opening scene of season 2, going way back in time. What were you thinking? What did it provide the viewer? or the story for that sake? Made no sense to have it in the show, just made the show seem more random which it didn't need at all. A bit off topic there but yeah, i would probably rate the first season a strong 7 but Season 2&3(especially 3) would be around a 6-5. Season 3 i had to force myself to watch, i figured i had watched this far so i might as well watch the rest of it so i can justify my review of the show. And you know maybe i'd get some decent explanations for the unexplained things that happened trough the show? NOPE.There's a lot of good tv-shows these days, the Leftovers is not one of them(at least for me).
mossikukulas-21314 I went into this TV show without knowing a lot about it. The premise of 2% of the world's population disappearing without any explanation is intriguing and in many ways it's not what you watch it for.I was really enjoying the journey of this TV show in all its wackiness and unpredictability but I gotta say I was seriously let down by the ending. I wasn't expecting everything to be spoonfed to be but at the same time I am so annoyed when writers present this dilemma, did she actually travel to the 'other side' or is she making it up. The show very cunningly cuts out that scene just before the tank fills so she could have said she wants to abort and we'd be none the wiser. As far as I'm concerned this is a cop-out. Having said that it's not as infuriating as the finale of Lost that still makes me angry to this day but it could have been so much more. Even if they had shown 10 seconds of what happened to Nora and how she appeared it would have been so much better. Also there are so many unanswered questions and plotlines and plot holes (what happened with the murdered Ausie cop or the injured one - can't just walk away from that) and all sorts. In summary for me this was so close to being one of the best TV shows of all time but the journey was still enjoyable. I'm envious of the people that were satisfied with that ending because for me it was a cop-out. I don't regret watching it though. It was a fun ride.
Hudson_Hawk26946 This show has it all, originality, philosophy, thrills....and much more. This is the kind of stuff that should be made more often, artists pushing the boundaries of storytelling and writing, whilst keeping the viewers hooked and intrigued.I'm a big fan of Damon Lindelof and lost and I loved lost but there are similarities in of writing, e.g when we have an answer to something then out emerges another dozen questions. Keeping us in the dark also keeps us intrigued and interested.Take 24, it was a dull, predictable show and there's so many shows like this but this is a gem of a show. The show is a beautifully mesmerizing show-piece that delivers on so many levels. I have watched up to season 2 and looking forward to 3. The characters are great, fantastic acting all around, Chris Eccleston is great as the reverend and so are Justin and the rest of the cast. This show is deep, nuanced, full of human emotion and character development. I just wish that it gets more recognition that it deserves, it definitely deserves and emmy award.Oh and the music is what adds to the shows greatness, totally brilliant, loving the piano riffs. It's just shame that other shows overshadow this show i.e game of thrones, stranger things, don't get me wrong these shows are amazing too but I just wished they d this show more.Yes it may not be for everyone...but how will you know if you don't give it a chance. Must watch.
