The Pillars of the Earth Audience Reviews 2x4q3m

AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Michael The Pillars of the Earth, produced by Ridley Scott, very good with a lot of suspense, very interesting story and very talented actors, Ian McShane is wonderful, Götz Otto, who is an actor I ire, is amazing. Unfortunately last episodes are less interesting but the whole serial is incredible, and we want to watch next episodes...
Kirpianuscus in same measure like the book. because it is not exactly an adaptation but inspired branch from the book , a trip in the heart of 12 century with grace, force, wise science to explore the detail. a series who is really fascinating because it reminds the spirit of a period using the right tools for transform each character in the pillar of a magnificent cathedral. a series about sacrifice, magic in different definition, inspiration, faith and survive. about the power of man's spirit in middle of dark events.a real good surprise - Eddie Redmayne. more than a film, an experience. rich in significant emotions and useful memories.
ayonmohaimen How can Love be a sin? How can Medicine be a sin? Why is god keeping the earth full of war and destruction, when he has given us flowers, beauty and love. This very miniseries shows us what faith and hope can make. Also what faith and hope can destroy. It shows us how through all ages religion has kept people alive, gave meaning to their lives. It shows us how religion has given peace in the world from the chaos it itself created. How family is everything. How love is everything. How love and faith is the meaning of life. It reminds us again how insignificant we are in the course of time. But how our choices in our lives; how little they be, can create a significant change in time. How every little thing is connected. How nothing matters and everything does. All in just eight 1 hour episodes. Beautiful Series The Pillars Of The Earth. It is indeed The best I've ever seen; one of the best I'll ever see.
CurledAngel As a huge fan of the book, I had great expectations for the on-screen adaptation of a novel offering such a huge potential. What a disappointment it has been! The cast does not match any of the descriptions in the book. The story has been cut down to such an extent that it is no longer the same story. Facts have been changed or are simply missing. Basically, the writers of this TV adaptation re-wrote the whole thing to their liking but certainly not to mine. For example, Jack is turned into a strong courageous and very assertive young fellow with rather good looks instead of the weak and not so good looking boy in the original story. They have also cut all the erotic content that spiced up the book, which is also a huge let down obviously. The story telling is left to be desired as the dialogue has also suffered from heavy cutting. The whole thing struggles to make any sense and only if you have read the book will you manage to understand what is going on.The pace does not reflect the real time line at all. For instance, at no time do you feel any of the despair the family felt from starvation at the beginning. Their journey was long and extremely difficult. In this adaptation, it feels like a mere walk in the park.In a nutshell, if you have loved the book, you will hate this adaptation. If I were in Ken Follett's shoes, I would be very upset with the result.
