Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
sally-93052 Watched Ep. 1; stereotypical characters: long-haired, sexy women, men who want them; follows the formula of having several characters who won't do what is asked of them, but somehow get away with it; PC situations like a woman in charge and a multi-ethnic relationship with an unwed pregnant woman with a "mean" mother and nice boyfriend who knocked her up. All boring at this point for me. Also, one character in particular is annoying, the young neglectful mother who spends time on the phone while not keeping track of her own child, much less 12-14 others she is in charge of on a school field trip, while making goo-goo eyes at a hot looking cop.
xhidden99 If you want to watch a series where anything happens, skip this. Nothing really happens. It's just attractive people in a 2-shot either crying, complaining or talking smack. And apparently every married couple in Atlanta is biracial. Everyone's overwhelmed and outraged, outraged I say.
misty899 So I think this a time where I am rather baffled by reviews on IMDB. Glowing over-the-top fantastic ones vs let's burn the film then stir the ashes with a stick so it doesn't reanimate. I liked it. I'm a ridiculous mutitasker and will do online whatever with my phone while watching (read: listening to) shows. I put down the phone with this show. An English speaking show. The whole time. Granted, ever since I read The Stand by King at 11 yrs old, I've been fascinated with viral, end of the world sagas (with or without zombies) so the premise is one of my favorite genres in horror/thriller. Here's what you need to know. Yes, they take some damned liberties with the medical aspect. But, c'mon people, would you seriously watch a show where you have nothing but scientists testing unknown viral agents at the CDC? Y'know, a process that could take months or years with average looking doctors in lab coats?? What transpires after a 100% mortality rate virus reeks havoc thru a small portion of a city can happen. Quarantine can and has happened. Do they take dramatic license? Of course. It's FICTION. The acting? I did not see what some of the 1 star reviewers saw. The acting is fine, occasionally quite good. And, dear god, being a horror junkie, I've watched some seriously cringeworthy movies with the most stilted of scripts. That is not this series. It warrants a viewing. At least at the pilot. Not for you, move along. I will say there's no way this is less than 6 stars.
Tony Started watching this to see if it was any good and I got to say I'm hooked. I've read mixed reviews, but I found the characters likable and the story believable only partially. All the drama and life inside the containment is believable if you that it's not supposed to be a true story or a documentary on how a containment of an outbreak would really work. The cordon is a plot device that is there to let the show focus on the main characters relationships inside and outside the wall. Without it it would just be another world ending plague show. Yes the writers could have been a little more faithful the how real disease control works and better use of ppe and bio-hazard procedures, but it's not the main focus of the show. The focus is in the people and while I'm sure in the real world outside the wall people would be super protected from infection. We forget that the people inside the wall are largely unsupervised. People are careless when they think their safe. Even temporarily. People also tend to look after themselves or their group and only move to assist others after the crisis is over. So if you can get over the blatant lack of real quarantine procedures. The show evolves into a pretty good drama with death lurking around every corner
