Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Breakinger A Brilliant Conflict
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Jessica L. Jacobs (Jess_Jacobs) I love the cast of this show. It has some of the best actors in the business. For example, Megan Mullally is almost unrecognizable in this show and was perfectly cast as a white-trashy prisoner who plays her role with a breathtaking ease. I love how different this role is for her in comparison to other shows I've seen her in. Then there is Jenna Fischer who plays the sweet and innocent role, which, to be quite honest, is something I've grown quite bored of from her as an actress. She's a great actress, don't get me wrong-- I'm just tired of the sweet and innocent roles.Next there is Rob Lowe. Ahhh. what a great character role for him playing the very untypical priest who is a chain smoker. The overall show is pretty good. I love the concept, I love the actors, I love the writing. But there is still something that is sort of off for me as a viewer. I find myself bored watching the show sometimes and that is unusual for me. Perhaps there isn't enough action. But I will still continue to watch it to see where it goes. With a cast like that, I cannot "not" watch it.
alexusapi Starting with what i liked: The acting was good, most of the actors were really good and did their part well, there are some noticeable exceptions but overall well acted. Some of the jokes were good also, some hidden humor that is gritty and sometimes hard to catch. What i didn't like: The writing, it was very poorly written, often seemed as though the writers wrote something and then made a turn without really thinking of the consequences. Some of the characters come of as unbelievable. This whole thing reeks of Christian propaganda, disregarding the obvious prophecy girl and water parting magic things the fact that seconds after the first person in the whole show claims to be an "atheist" he kills his best friend because he has no use for him anymore. And the coolest characters and most handsome are the priest and the nun, this is all subconscious manipulation to make religion the "cool" thing and atheism out as pointless and evil.I also feel that the measures taken to divert or destroy the comet were seriously weak, obviously we would not send one missile, we would send many and calculate the forces needed to divert its course, and the president couldn't just lie that it worked because those 27 scientists are not the only ones with telescopes and trajectory calculations, every major space agency in the world would know, like the Russian and Chinese.
ericerb1 The plot is an interesting mix of apocalyptic Armageddon, religion, with hints (some more subtle that others) of the supernatural. The story-line is fast-paced and interesting with many twists along the way. The biggest of which in the last 2 seconds of the series finally. The cast is an interesting mix of British and American actors who for the most part are great together. Some of the characters begin as blatant stereotypes, but we do see character development throughout most of them that makes them more accessible by the season (hopefully not series) finally. There are some distractingly terrible American accents. One character in particular, but thankfully she is not a lead character as much as an occasional annoyance. Don't over-analyze it and you're sure to have a good time.
hurricane_san The show follows a handful of group of people a few days before an announced apocalypse. The stories have ups and down and are a bit boring, except the "religious" one that I found intriguing.Overall the show was promising : the general idiocy and nonsense was bearable, resulting in a generally good entertainment. But they had to ruin it in a fated moment where criminal stupidity is used as a lever for the plot, several times in one episode (I'll explain in a paragraph). In summary this is not the worst I ever seen and if you have high resistance to unbelievable, weak, idiotic plots with their share of holes, you may still enjoy it.Spoiler about what I mean follows:It happens the day where the survival of humanity is put in the balance, just a few days before everyone is expected to die in case of failure. a cop basically tells one of the protagonist trying to save the world: "0K, I'll let you save the world but first you have to tell me where your criminal sister is" (the girl is basically a nobody). And puts him in jail when the guy does not talk. This is wrong on so many level : the general behavior of the characters, the priorities of everybody, the fact that important people for the future of the human species are not guarded 24/7 because anything could put said future in jeopardy (virus, car accident, food poisoning, stupid cops, maniac wanting to kill the last hope, ...)And the "geniuses" tasked to save the world are ing for clowns : only an idiot would measure time not only from a central clock but worse : in a unit affected by time savings. On another hand, something a bit like that has happened a few years ago. A rocket has been lost (self-destructed) because of units incompatibilities between parts of the machine (Imperial vs Metric).
