timspeewerk Having watched episode 13 for the second time now that I want to prepare myself for the second season, I still felt the same feelings I had when I first watched the series.I felt guilty, hurt and really wanted something more than I got. Because the end really got me in the feels. Right when Clay states to Mr. Porter how Hannah's last day went, I really had tears in my eyes. I honestly wasn't able to watch the suicide scene again.I really loved this series and are now starting the second season with a lot of exspectations.
rubieangelinaglew The show is honestly shocking. when i finishes reading thirteen reasons why (the book by jay asher), i felt a little sad, a little shaken up, but also positive. the book showed that hannah was dealing with issues that were made worse by the way she was treated, and that we should always try to help people in any way we can no matter what. the show completely ruined this and turned it into a revenge story. TRIGGER WARNINGS : rape, sexual assault, suicidein the book, hannah was not raped in the same way as seen in the show - she was fingered. of course this is awful and in no way good at all, but there was absolutely no reason for it to be turned into penetrative rape. as well as this, in the book she did not slit her wrists in a bathtub - she overdosed on pills. obviously the suicide scene should not have been shown at all, but showing her taking too many pills would have been at least a fraction easier to watch than her sitting in the bathtub slitting her wrists - you can actually see the razor blade cutting into the skin. netflix was clearly trying to make everything more dramatic. not only does this make the show more triggering, but it also invalidates things that are not so extreme that can still mentally harm people. these are not the only things season one exaggerates, although they are the only triggering examples of netflix trying to make everything more dramatic. as well as this, the scenes were just so, so triggering that i could barely watch them. netflix made a huge mistake with season to as well, as i have heard about the rape scene that takes place. however, i have decided not to watch season two because of how triggering the first season was. netflix really made a mistake here.
amalbouafif I was on the fence about this season, i didn't hate it not the way many did for reasons such as it played with a serious problem badly and it made light and glorified a big teen crises, in fact i like that it talked about difficult subjects such as suicide, religion , bullying, lack of adult supervision, rich entitlement, power of money, recklessness of adults with serious teen problems, cruelty, the effect of small gestures on different personalities ,etc , these are hard subjects to discuss therefore the hate and backlash against the show was expected if not needed , they are problems that are really hard to speak about and represent truthfully and i think the show did it's best to try and convey a meaningful message , and the actors did a great job with it . my problem with season 2 is more about the links with season 1 and the plot holes , for me the show ended in season 1 or it should have , what the show did was go back in time and create new stories and new character flows and new plot lines that benefit the story in no obvious way , and it only adds confusion and a lot more questions and it slows the pace of the show to becoming extremely boring at some points, most of these were fillers and didn't do much for the progress of the story but only messed with the credibility of the first season for no apparent reason. i expected the writers to continue the show in a way that didnt feel like a bad "pretty little liars " spin-off .
Big Bouy Bokins Seriously people need to stop. All these reviews telling everyone how bad this show is, and how it's unrealist. It's a tv show for goodness sake, what did you think it was going to be? Beyond that, did you know it was a book first? I don't understand this narrative that Hannah isn't likable or relatable. Obviously there was so much she missed, but don't we all? Don't we all miss the little things, the things that make us see the situation from the other side? I think people forget hindsight is 20/20. Looking back, sure she could have done a lot different, seen that people cared and she ran them off. When your living in it, you miss it all. Ok so I got that out of the way. This show while is very dangerous for people with doubts to watch, it does make you think. I could relate to Clay. He was a believable shy guy that never knew what to say to Hannah. I was that same kid. They did a good job of making you believe that. One of my favorite scenes was at the dance. He was pushed to finally ask her to dance, and they just went crazy for a few minutes. It was great! It makes you feel actual joy for them. Only if it's for a second. I say all of this to say that season 2 missed. I think the writers completely changed the story, and missed. The Hannah Baker they made for season 2 wasn't the Hannah Baker from season 1. Since the book never went beyond season 1, the writers decided to make their own story. They missed in an effort to make drama and I think it was a terrible decision. They kind of brought it back together at the end, but just added a bit too much. Hopefully season 3 will redeem it, but I doubt it. Season 1 was all that was needed.
