Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Audience Reviews 2pb2u

Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
tstudstrup Michael Caine is in this movie. If you hate him as much as I do, you dont have to read any further. But if that doesnt stop you the following will. A forgettable sequel to the forgettable Journey to the center of the earth with Brendan Fraser. A guy I miss in movies these days, this time replaced by the otherwise good Dwayne Johnson. As out of place here as his grotesque body that make Arnold Schwarzenegger look puny in comparison. And hearing him say heck several times, because this a kids movie, just feels wrong. He needs to stick to do actionmovies for an older audience. Worst moment is when he takes out that tiny guitar (that hottie Vanessa Hudgens carry around for most of the movie for no reason at all) and he starts to sing/play his own version of "What a wonderful world". And he does so because Sean (ineptly played by the awful actor Josh Hutcherson) is in physical pain and they have no painkillers. This is an actual scene. The cgi is bad in many scenes. Including a scene where Sean falls of a giant bee and instead of having a stuntman do the fall, they replace him with a fake looking cgi-Sean defying the laws of physics, as he tumbles forward after falling. Also the actress Anna Colwell is credited but never appears in the movie. What the hell?? Almost as bad as Indiana Jones 4. But with a much smaller budget.
Michael Ledo The writers and producers of this film were smart enough not to have Dwayne Johnson play the role of Brendan Fraiser. Sean, the son, is back and lives with his mom and step-dad in teen prison, known as Dayton, Ohio. Dwayne is intelligent and understanding. When Sean gets a cryptic message, Brainiac Dwayne Johnson helps him decode it. Sean wants to go to the Island and find his grandfather, who he thinks sent the message. Dwayne, who is trying to connect with Sean, decides to humor him and very quickly into the film, we are at Mysterious Island.Luis Guzmán plays a local helicopter pilot who along with his pretty daughter Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella Montez of High School Musical) are capable of getting the foursome stranded on the Island. Once they meet up with Michael Caine, there is some ridiculous rivalry dialouge that doesn't fit well into the film. The special effects were good. The humor and story was aimed at the kids who enjoyed the picture far more than their parents with some scenes being downright juvenile. Sean, of course, has a thing for the island girl, who plays hard to get. All this is going on while the volcano blows smokes and oozes lava. Some cheesy fun. 3D effects...unfortunately bounce right at you.No F-bombs, sex, or nudity, Pure PG goodness. Good one for the kids (pre-teen and younger). WARNING: Dwayne Johnson sings
oliver brown the amazing high adventure movies you saw as a kid? This is the modern equivalent - more temple of doom than raiders the effect on kids is amazing. I now have to play Lego Atlantis and Captain Nemo with my 5 year old and its one all the kids enjoy. The bad reviews are not from this movies target audience. The Rock is awesome, the humour appropriate and the adventure tense but not scary. You know how Hollywood often gets it audience wrong these days well not this time. This will be a kids classic and much loved when they are older and they will decide this films place in the genre. Not grumpy adults who went to see it as a serious movie.
drystyx This is what it is, and for those few who don't know, that means it's high sci-fi adventure with plenty of thrills and great, likable, credible characters in an incredible situation on an island of giant creatures whose means of escape rely on the boat of the ill fated fictional Captain Nemo. This lives up to everything, mostly because of the comedy and the characters. Done much like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in the style of unbelievable adventure, it never fails to show us what a film is supposed to be.As I stated before, many films try this, but fail to be good films because they try too hard to shove hate down our throats, which unless one is a great writer, results in one dimensional characters. Here, we have some crazy characters, but none are one dimensional, and all have some degree of dignity. We can travel with them, and laugh with them, because this is a comedy more than anything. The wit is there. Everything is there. It's a joy ride. It isn't classic meaningful theater. It's a joy ride.
