Star Trek: The Motion Picture Audience Reviews s3g5w

Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Phillida Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
rodrig58 Robert Wise has directed many great movies, different genres, I've seen almost all of them. Musical ("West Side Story" and "The Sound of Music"), History ("Helen of Troy"), Horror ("The Haunting"), Drama ("Somebody Up There Likes Me" and "Two for the Seesaw"), etc. He also directed another very good Sci-Fi, "The Andromeda Strain". This "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", with its original cast, with an original story and the contest of masters such as Isaac Asimov, Douglas Trumbull and John Dykstra, is a great achievement.
drewstewartcola While the film does rekindle the fire of TOS, it lacks the imagination and spirit of TOS. It doesn't do anything to advance the spirit of the franchise, it was almost like it would have made a better 11/2 hour Sunday night movie of the week on NBC.
jellopuke This movie has a bad rap and while the theatrical version is too long and in need of some trimming, the movie is actually quite good, with great effects and an interesting story. Sure some of the cast get the shaft in of having barely more than cameos, but the ideas here are grand and epic and worked well on the big screen.
Jacob (jacob-916-219982) Star Trek: The Motion Picture may not be great by most people, but I thought the movie was pretty good. It also depends on the version of film people watch. I grew up with the theatrical cut, the special longer cut, and the Special Directors Edition cut.To make a simple summary of the film without spoiling for those who haven't seen it. A mysterious space cloud is heading towards Earth and only the crew of the USS Enterprise can stop it.The positive thing I can say about the film is that I love the acting by the actors involved, some of the special effects, and Jerry Goldsmith's music. I own a record album of the soundtrack inherited from my parents.I still consider this worth watching.
