Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Lunaroseice There were lots of complaints about this film when I checked reviews before I watched it. But I watched it anyway, since the overall plot is one I would normally like. It was better, on all fronts, than most of the complaints I read. I've seen worse acting, worse writing, and worse effects in movies that got better reviews. This is actually a relatively entertaining movie to watch on a weekend morning when you are looking for something to put on while working on projects. The pacing is good enough to keep you mentally engaged. While nothing is very original or at a level that would win any awards, the acting and writing is good enough to keep you entertained while your hands are busy with other tasks. I nearly wanted to give it a seven just to try to counter some of the lower scores that I think it didn't deserve. But I resisted and gave it a 6. It really isn't a 7 but I feel it is much better than a 5.
Eddie Cantillo The Reaping (2007) Starring:Hillary Swank, AnnaSophia Robb,David Morrissey, Idris Elba,Stephen Rea,Andrea Frankle,William Ragsdale,John McConnell,David Jensen, and Yvonne Landry Directed by Stephen Hopkins Review HEAVEN OR HELL. GOOD OR EVIL. NOW OR NEVER. Hello Kiddies your pal the crypt-critic here has another film he doesn't hate himself for liking. I like the Reaping because that one thing a guy would enjoy in the bible, bring the violence. It also has a good story and acting as well. The Reaping follows and ordain minister played by Hillary Swank, who has made it her mission to prove that GOD doesn't exist. She is called to investigate a series of deaths in a small town known as Haven(you know like that SYFY show)that all seem to be plagues brought on by a little girl.Yep then the rivers run red, the locus wreak havoc and the bodies hit the floor. The film delivers an interesting premise challenging both science and religion,it has a surprising twist at the end and a stellar cast. Hillary Swank is good as always, David Morris keeps you shrouded in mystery wondering whether if he is good or bad.But my favorite performance in this comes from AnnaSophia Robb who plays the little girl causing all the plagues,to be honest I'm quite a fan of this actress and can't wait to see her in more films. AnnaSophia Robb plays one of the creepist little girls I've ever seen on film, she is conveyed through her eyes as threatening and she's believable and convinced me that this whole town was afraid of her. This is yet another film I believe is disliked for no good reason it's dark,it's eerie, and filled with atmosphere three things that are lacking in horror films now a days. Watch this I recommended this great film, I give The Reaping a four out of five.
jadedragoness77 I have to it I liked this movie. I did not see the twist coming. The acting was great. The mystery was intriguing. The effects were astounding. The plot was enthralling and captivating. I could not find any weakness in this movie whatsoever and I am a big movie buff. If I think a movie sucks I will say so, but this movie did not. I think those saying it did are just trying to conform to what others are saying. I don't think they would know a good movie if it bit them on the ass. Give this movie a chance. No, its not a high budget huge production, but the story holds its own. Its a tiny bit campy with the "religious nuts" blaming and wanting to kill a little girl for what is going on, but the end soooo makes up for all of that. I never pick bad movies and I choose this one. So far everyone I have had watch the movie really likes it as well. I really wish they would come out with the sequel even though this one didn't do great in theaters. Hopefully, they will put it out on DVD and I will buy it. I think it was more of a made for T.V. kind of movie, but still a really good movie.
sotok10 First off, I'm so confused why this movie is called The Reaping when there wasn't even reaping involved. I was reaped once and it was so cool lol and a lot of fun so I think Hillary Swank got confused when she titled the movie, HER HEAD WAS PROBABLY HIT ONE TOO MANY TIMES IN MILLION DOLLAR BABY. I don't think they did a good job with the setting either because the whole time it didn't even look like they were in Africa, there was only one black guy in the whole movie. This movie should have been called THE SNATCHING. People were getting snatched up left and right, there was constant snatching it scared me so much because I was snatched once by a guy who looked like Usher. Hillary would have been much safer at Sandals Beach Resort, no ones ever getting snatched. ALSO why didn't Hillary Swank just call child services and order take out for everyone then there would be no more snatching. I think in the Snatching 2 there will be a twist and Hillarys gonna be the snatcher LOL OMGThis movie made me crave a steak so now I have to go to Longhorn and snatch up a steak. What do you guys think???????
