Matcollis This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Benas Mcloughlin Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
tumblrgirlvibes I know everyone bashed this movie because we all know the sequel is never as good as the original right? While Pocahontas 2 did somewhat live up to my expectations in the beginning, I was totally let down by the ending. Pocahontas travels to London in order to meet the king and settle issues between their people but he agrees to meet her only if she attends a ball to prove she is civilized. Some parts must it were humorous and what I expected and hope. When she comes to England, her fascination and reaction is just what I expected. The songs weren't bad, really. They were witty but of course not as good as the first. I wouldn't totally bash the songs, they were alright. All in all, the story line wasn't bad. However, and ****SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON*** They did make Pocahontas fall in love with another man and I was just totally bummed and disappointed at that. She was in love with John Smith first then she's in love with another man now?! I saw the white dress in the picture and thought she would marry John Smith. Anyways that just totally ruined it for me - like i want to erase it all. Besides that, although a crucial thing for me,if i were to judge solely up until the ending, I actually sort of liked the movie. Oh, and one more thing...RATCLIFFE. What was that?! The king believes only him and where are all the crew member from the last movie to vouch for John Smith and prove Ratcliffe's innocence. That was a P.O. to be honest. OK i'm done.
mtman318 I've seen this a grand total of twice, but I've enjoyed it both times. I didn't grow up with the first Pocahontas movie, so I wasn't heartbroken when Pocahontas and John Smith didn't end up together in this one. Actually, the romance was probably one of my least favorite aspects of that movie. I realize why now: It's Romeo and Juliet (and we all know how that relationship worked out); I've never particularly cared for that story either--though it's been a while since I've read it.Hence, with this movie, I'm glad they kind of continued down that path, in that Pocahontas is able to move on after she thinks he's dead--as well as recognize and be honest with both how she's changed, and about what she really wants. And this is what nobody seems to notice (from what I've read so far): In the end, Pocahontas didn't choose John Rolfe. She chose her people, and her home. Yet she also loved him, and she probably loved John Smith too. Both Johns got what they wanted, Smith wanted to have his own ship and explore the world, and Rolfe wanted to become an adviser to the King (or something like that). But when it was clear Pocahontas didn't want to sail the world, Smith didn't want to give up that dream for her (and that's fine), and he didn't want her to feel obligated to give up hers either; so he let her go. He too had moved on. It was a very mature thing to do (even, dare I say, loving). Rolfe, on the other hand, ultimately decided that he valued Pocahontas more than his position, so he gave it up willingly to be with her. Anyway, I liked the other aspects of this movie too. Of course, the music/songs and animation aren't as good as the first, but given the time and budget constrains--and the fact that this was a different, smaller animation studio--I think they did rather well. This gets a solid 8 stars from me.
anna-patten26 I thought this movie was terrible. There is nothing inappropriate, but the way the movie was composed was awful. The first movie in this series was very well done, it was a beautiful romantic, sweet, and heartfelt movie. But it did not go along with history. The real John Smith and Pocahontas never had a romantic connection. Although Disney being Disney decided to create a relationship between the two. I am going to go out here and say most people enjoyed this version much better that actual history. Because Pocahontas really meets John Rolfe and they have a child, while all of this is going on Pocahontas thinks John Smith is dead. But this does not matter to her because she and John are only friends. Sadly a few years later she falls ill with small pox and dies. If Disney decides in the first movie not to go along with history then they should keep that promise. What ever happened to "I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you"? and "no matter what happens, I'll always be with you, forever"? I mean Pocahontas and John Smith were really in love, Pocahontas even stops a freaking war just to be with John (hello...true love right here) And then by the end of the 2nd movie Disney makes John Smith look like a jerk when he totally is not. Even though in reality John Smith and Pocahontas never end up together Disney should have made it so they do. So in conclusion heres what i think: I do not CARE how it was in reality. I wanted to see how John Smith and Pocahontas be together. Oh and BTW i am a huge Disney fan but for this movie I'm not, way to step on my childhood Disney! I WISH I COULD ERASE THIS MOVIE FROM MY MEMORY
cajgray The first Pocahontas was beautiful! A wonderful love story! It's my favorite Disney movie of all time! John Smith is hot! Pocahontas 2 not only made me angry but it was just stupid! Pocahontas fought all throughout that movie to be with John Smith and didn't even stay with him. Sucks! The Plot line to me was just dumb, there wasn't as much emotion as the first one! The bright colors and the beauty of nature was gone and John Rolfe can go somewhere with his stupid ugly clothing! John Smith and Pocahontas were meant to be even though it didn't happen in real life. They just created that stupid mess to get a little extra money! And by the looks of the reviews doesn't seem they got much! Worst sequel to a movie I have ever seen! Don't go see it! It's a waste of time!
