Babylon A.D. Audience Reviews 541c4u

Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Casey Duggan It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Patience Watson One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
Cassandra Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Thy Davideth Babylon AD is... oh why do I even bother? This movie f***** sucks. It is the usual "escort the significant whatever from point A to point B while battling a bunch of evil $#!+$" garbage'and it executed poorly. The only good thing about this AIDS infested ass is the.... you know what, I completely forgot because I was too busy cutting myself to alleviate the pain of sheer malicious boredom. Ugh. Anyways, the concept, the story, the pacing, acting, everything was Hollywood cliche in the most retarded manner. I rather blow a gorilla than watch this poo poo pee pee ca ca weiny movie again.
M MALIK this film Babylon Ad:2008 is based on a novel & directed by a french director Matthew Kassovitz.hold on guys let me say this even i though the whole cast got wasted here but ever wonder why because of the terrible editing by the studio the director of this film was angry over this he has every right to be paramount does this a lot but fox should not let their fans down i like their movies it is one of the biggest studio in Hollywood one of my favorite if anyone at fox is reading this please take note.i agree with critics & people who say this film could have been better if the run-time was longer as a lot of action scenes are chopped of specially the car chase scene during the climax where Vin Diesel is blowing things up it looked cool i saw the film it was missing i checked out the censorship report with comparisons of different versions on DVD i say forget those guys it is not worth the money fox needs to release the full uncut version the film would make much more sense.the director blamed fox studio saying they never allowed him to shoot the film as he wanted sad day in history of filmmaking i say i don't know this always happens to foreign directors same thing happened with John Woo almost his every film got edited by Hollywood this is disrespectful.not only during the production but even after the post production studio was interfering now this is being called a french film i am sorry it is a typical Hollywood disaster so please stop saying it is a french film french films are masterpieces because their studios make wise decisions unlike ones in North America. the cast:Vin Diesel looked out of shape but in the shower scene he looks sexy with hairy chest so i sat through this only for him this is definitely one of his weakest performance ever,Michelle Yeoh & Charlotte Rampling got wasted but Melanie Thierry is a nice eye candy but she can do some serious acting if given the right material.the plot:set in the future this is the story of a smuggler who is banned from entering USA he gets a job to deliver a girl inside USA but things don't go easy as always the bad guys are coming after him.the theme was nice it was a interesting concept and had the usual science fiction mixed with mythical & religious nonsense etc.it looked like a road trip movie i tried to enjoy this only because of Vin Diesel even he could not save this mess of a project what is here to talk about direction honestly it was nicely done but hey it don't even matter as a action junkie i would say this movie is crap but on the other hand as a person who likes films with great plots and narratives i would say this film would have nailed it i mean it it could have been the best film of the last decade but sadly the fox studio is responsible for this mess there is too much editing done it looks like the editors wanted to make a mash-up dance video this is why the characters are loose cannons & film don't make much sense no matter what.Overall Babylon A.D:2008 is only for hardcore Vin Diesel fans only i have to say i am one so i watched this only for him my rating is 3/10.
Basil Basilescu I sometimes don't get it on how the world still goes 'round. Usually I come to this website, look at how many points a movie scored and then watch it. This time it was the opposite. Had a movie spree weekend and wanted to see all of the unseen up to date, so I started searching. Found this title, saw the trailer, got some microwave popcorn and pressed play. I got the idea from the start, some parts were predictable, some others were not, but with the 5+ score it got I was absolutely in shock and ran to the motherland of movie websites, signed up and reviewed this picture in motion. I am terrified on how many people just don't appreciate a good movie. It's 2008 and this is a futuristic image. We didn't get to the moon and you should know that by now. Moving fast forward, if you like Vin Diesel, watch the movie. If you feel that he could have done better, I agree even more. However, rating this with lower than 7/10 wouldn't be fair. If you don't like it I suggest making a movie of your own, better ! Fact is fact, religion has too many benefits and is going towards a dark age of bad ideas.Go figure why there were black and white babies, you coca-cola ment lovers, it's for the mind-washing machine public and those 2 billion new believers that ugly lady in the movie was talking about. Since this is my first review I don't expect you all to like it, but after all that wasn't the purpose of this website after all. Enjoy !
tieman64 "Babylon AD" was all but disowned by its director, Mathieu Kassovitz, as the film underwent heavy production difficulties, 20th Century Fox mercilessly interfering with and opposing the French director's wishes.Still, this is a pretty good "scifi" (it's not science fiction) movie once you approach it from a certain angle. The film's plot, derivative of fare like "Escape from LA", "Escape from New York", "Serenity", "Children of Men" and the "Mad Max trilogy", sees actor Vin Diesel playing a mercenary tasked with transporting a young girl across a war torn, future Earth. It's familiar stuff, but the film's art design, score, sets and landscapes do well to conjure up the work of Enki Bilal, Michel Houellebecq, Jean Giraud and European cyber punk. Most of the film's action scenes are terribly corny, inserted by 20th Century Fox as a means of suckering in audiences, but look past this and the film has a nice vibe. Kassovitz and Diesel were going for a low key, grim, silent, archetypal quest, but the studios wanted talk and conventional action. The film works if, and only if, you're aware of these conflicts and self-censor what you're watching. Like cyber-punk comics, it depends on you doing all the work. On you using the incomplete images as a spring-board to imagine a world that could be.Kassovitz made one "serious" film with "Hate", but has since turned into a shameless stylist. "The Crimson Rivers", an early film of his, is arguably his best; a shamelessly lurid potboiler. Fans of "Babylon AD" advocate watching its "uncut edition". What you really want is the first half hour of the "uncut edition" (primarily for its extended opening) and the rest of the theatrical cut (for the architecturally interesting airport sets, deleted in the "uncut edition"). Neither cut is complete, and Kassovitz had little input in the so called "uncut" or "director's cut".7.9/10 – Poor Vin Diesel. He tries hard to make smart sci-fi actioners, but just can't quite manage. Worth one viewing.
