The Secret Life of the American Teenager Audience Reviews 5j6e5j

LouHomey From my favorite movies..
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
stugfloyd I honestly think this show is really entertaining and addictive. Well yeah it unrealistic but it television duh!I think that people are excepting too much from a funny little show. its actually really interesting and can be funny,its really drama filled and juicy and i love it!!
Amelia R This is by no s a good show. The acting is bad, the characters barely tolerable, the plot line is repetitive, cliché, and at times just plain terrible. The only reason I gave this show 3 stars instead of 1 is because I have watched so many episodes despite the obvious and immediate flaws. Not sure if that says more about me than the quality of the show though...In any event, the things that are wrong with the show that I listed about pale in comparison to the real reason that I hate this show. When you first start watching, you see that the main character's (Amy's) mother and father have dark brown eyes while Amy and her sister both have light eyes. Okay, you may think to yourself after drawing a quick pundit square, this is somewhat unlikely but there could be a 50% chance of the offspring having light eyes when the parents have dark.However, as the show progresses, and you are introduced to the character of Adrian and her parents, you realize that her parents have bright blue eyes, while she has dark brown eyes. After drawing this pundit square, you may become angry, enraged even. The chance of the offspring having brown eyes is 0%. This is what got my goat.Finally, I am not sure why the writers of this show feel so compelled to make all plot lines revolve around sex and pregnancy. Every single episode, the words "sex" and "pregnant" are said in such great abundance, the words begin to lose all meaning--viewing of the entire series is sure to leave the viewer in a mental hospital, screaming the words "sex" and "pregnancy" over and over again, praying for a lobotomy so that they can finally forget these terribly overused words....
hannasmommy2006 This has to be the worst television show ever. While I haven't been a teenager for quite awhile, I do know these are no where near realistic portrayals of teens. In fact, the adults aren't realistic either. Even if the acting wasn't horrible, there is nothing likable about any of these characters. From Ben, (a character I'm assuming you're suppose to like) a controlling, obsessive, overbearing, jerk of a boyfriend (doesn't matter how often he says he loves Amy, he's constantly talking Amy into doing what HE wants), to Grace's father, who discusses patients with his wife, who then talks about those patients with their teenager daughter (real ethical, super Christians)! The show tries to preach abstinence, poorly, but it also seems like it's trying to make adoption a poor choice for the two teenage parents involved. There are so many problems with these story lines (that all have to do with sex, by the way)that it's impossible to list them all. I would advise to stay away from this poorly written, poorly acted show. It's dangerous for young impressionable kids, who may not realize this show is just a huge stereo type that does not portray real life and true consequences of choices. I can't believe this show was on as long it was. Yikes.
Kirsten Vogel You can clearly tell the intentions of the writers and creator within the first few episodes: abortions are the devils work & adopting out a baby is also never an option in teen pregnancy. This show really makes me sad to think that young girls are watching this and thinking if you get pregnant as a teen, you MUST keep the baby or everyone (including God) will hate you. Aside from that, Amy is probably the most annoying bitch of a character and I think all the viewers are rooting against her at this point. She is always either angry or sad, never have I seen a happy or excited emotion from her. She treats her parents like dirt and treats Ben like a doormat. Then she bitches about having to watch HER baby because she wants to go out and do stuff with her friends. WORST CHARACTER EVER. The only thing that I enjoy is Amy's dad George, his random comments and actions are actually quite funny and bring the rest of this horrible show up for the couple minutes he's in an episode. I also enjoy Ricky and Adrian, they seem like the only level headed people on the show.
