Diagonaldi Very well executed
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Winifred The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Phillipa Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
undeaddt I am giving this a 4 only because of Laurence Fishburne and Thomas Jane who were acting great, which is expected of them since they are phenomenal actors. Otherwise, this movie is pure nonsense, boring boring and boring. Since the movie was so boring, I expected at least a decent ending, but no, the ending is worse than the whole movie, with no logic and idea. 4/10 at best.
philgarin Better than Leon: the Professional? Yes.I know, that sounds ridiculous, whereas the Peofessional had a good-as-it-gets conflicted bad guy and Standoff unfairly prevails because it has Laurence Fishburne playing a m.o.n.s.t.e.r.I'd highly recommended. It has the quality of Unforgiven but without the Hollywood b.s. ( yes, less b.s. than Unforgiven!). One critique, if id been looking over Adam Alleca's shoulder when he made this masterpiece.... there is a death scene -- a death that should have broken link an arctic sheet -- that fell a bit flat. It was acted perfectly but needed the visual of an optic nerve going slack to really take it over the edge. Just that one-time special effect would have taken the ambiance home.
Uriah43 "Bird" (Ella Ballentine) is a young girl who has been orphaned and essentially has a man she doesn't particularly like taking care of her. One day while visiting her mother's grave she happens to witness the killing of a few people attending a funeral. The killer, who is later identified as "Sade" (Laurence Fishburne) happens to see the young girl and realizes that in order to protect his identity he has to kill her as well. So he chases her to a nearby farm house where a former soldier by the name of "Carter" (Thomas Jane) now resides and just happens to be nursing the recent loss of his family as well. Although he is wounded in the initial gunfight with Sade and he doesn't have hardly any ammunition at all he is determined to keep Bird alive at all costs. What he doesn't count on is the cost that Sade is willing to charge. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that even though it had a rather one-dimensional setting the movie itself remained somewhat entertaining from start-to-finish. On that note, I think most of this entertainment value was due to good a good combination of action and suspense along with fairly decent acting between the performers involved. Slightly above average.
kosmasp If you more or less just have one location, you have to have an interesting basic idea, nice visuals and actors who can pull it off. You kind of have everything with this. Thomas Jane and Laurence Fishburne are a good match-up. They play easily off each other. Even some weak points get addresses when it comes to "why doesn't he just ..." where you wonder why one of the characters just doesn't do the obvious. You believe Laurence Fishburne when he says the things he does. So there are a couple of things that are convenient to say the least, but that shouldn't keep you from enjoying this. It's tense and even if you kind of know where it goes (predictable wise), you can watch it and be entertained
