The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) Audience Reviews 3n191k

Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Grimossfer Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to of the 1%
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Clarissa Mora The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
saraccan Characters are relatable and likable, which i think is an important element in this genre. ben stiller and adam sandler are just playing themselves while dustin hoffman portrays a grumpy old artist dad. its about this dysfunctional family, their relationship among each other and how they deal with their father.
Anshul Agrawal This movie has some really unusual story-telling. The entire movie unfolds through conversations, so there is lots of it, with tons of hidden meanings and fine print. Some relationships are overtly shown but a lot is hidden behind a barrage of dialogue, so reruns could be fun.Excellent acting by Adam Sandler. A star off for deviating from reality at the end, which the director was so successful at doing throughout the movie.
florisvanrutten To start off, this film is absolutely worth watching for the witty dialogues that Noah Baumbach has written skillfully. Some of the scenes, especially the first one of the entire movie, almost ask for immediate re-watching. However, despite some serious character development, the film didn't feel completely sincere and logical to me. It doesn't bother much, however, because of the great skill that the actors in the film have to bring Baumbachs jokes to life. Surprisingly, Adam Sandler stands out in The Meyerowitz Stories. Grace van Patten was also a great discovery to me, she reminds me a lot of Shailene Woodley in her better roles. The 'not unpornographical' movies Van Patten's character makes are so bizarre and funny that they deliver some of the best moments in this picture. Ben Stiller, Emma Thompson and Elizabeth Marvel deliver solid performances. Dustin Hoffman is incredibly irritating as the center of the movie. He handles that well, but it's difficult to really feel for him as he slowly gets weaker. Baumbach often makes films about irritating characters and in this film he doesn't manage to make you feel much emotion for them. That's the main flaw of The Meyerowitz Stories. Despite some serious character development in both the characters of Sandler and Stiller, you don't feel enough for them to be really moved by their new decisions. A minor flaw is the sloppy ending, in which too many things seem to happen unnecessarily. I felt that the film would have been better if it was about 15 minutes shorter. However, The Meyerowitz Stories is absolutely interesting for the witty dialogues, bizarre and aswkard situations and the appearance of Sigourney Weaver at an art exhibition.
levitates This is a movie made by a man, about men, and their relationships with men. Such a waste of time, nothing new or interesting. The female characters are a joke, like did the screen writer read up on the Bechdel test and take it as his personal goal to never ever coming close to it? It is so tiresome to have to watch a full two hours of men just being men, and thereby being entitled to attention. And the broken male relationships? Seen it all before. If you want to dwell in dysfunctional father-son relationships I would recommend you to go back to Star Wars. Jesus Christ!
