Joanna Mccarty Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
TownRootGuy If you like anything from him, how do you not like everything from him? Sophomoric humor is what this guy does and this movie is no different. Why this guy is funny where others of his ilk are not I do not know. I couldn't stand him on SNL and had no interest in his movies until I was cajoled into seeing the second Austin Powers. Now, I consider some of his movies to be among my absolute favorites. Sure, some of the jokes in this are older than I am and I am slightly older than the moon landing but he sells them. This has outstanding eye candy, great tunes, an awesome cast AND ball gazing is no laughing matter, unless it happens to somebody else. The first two Powers flicks are better but this is outstanding, if you like childish humor. I can watch this every two years or so.
ace_ryan This movie I feel gets an unfair amount of hate directed at it. I'm going to start by saying this; is it the greatest comedy movie ever? Is is superior to Myers' Austin Powers franchise? No not by a long shot. Is it funny? Are there some good jokes that make you laugh or even just chuckle at? Yes. OK so Mike Myers plays Guru Maurice Pitka, the titular Love Guru, who is tired of being second best to Deepak Chopra but opportunity arises when he is approached to save the marriage of Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Darren Roanoke and possibly get one up on Chopra. While helping Darren, Pitka learns the important age- old lesson of being himself instead of trying to be someone else. The film also stars Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Ben Kingsley and Verne Troyer with cameos from various celebrities. I first saw this movie after watching the Austin Powers movies from a mate who said this was another comedy from Mike Myers. He loaned it to me and I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very funny two of my favourite moments come from the meeting in Coach Cherkov's (Verne Troyer) office and when Pitka tells Darren he can fight anyone for any reason then proceeding to muck around with Cherkov. It's only in the past couple years I learnt that it didn't go down well with others. Of course I defend it. As I already stated it's by no means the best comedy movie ever but it's enjoyable nonetheless. The only thing that brings it down for me is the fact kanye west appears in it, granted it's a small cameo but still he's a sight I'm sure no-one wanted to see in the movie. Ideally when watching this movie you'll want to ignore what others have said about it and just not think too much, you'll find some of the jokes offensive granted and think "wtf!?" with some moments but the rest you'll smirk, chuckle and even full on laugh at
nikibakhtiari I loved this movie! I laughed the entire time. If you are am Austin Powers fan you will love the guru. It was similar in that the jokes were sexually charged but bedroom humor is always fun to watch as a couple. Teenagers will probably get the same amount of humor, enough to enjoy the feature. Although I have read some bad reviews, I think that they were probably a little squeamish to the type of humor, or in general needed to vent some steam and they just used the Guru as a target. Go get laid or find Jesus people! I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good date night movie, or as a movie to enjoy between the guys or girls. I am not endorsing sexual behavior in underage kids, but I do think it is something teenagers would enjoy as a slumber party movie or something. There is not actual nudity shown, although implied, and there are no sex scenes to speak of...well...there was that one time with the circus elephants... Enjoy the show!
Gino Cox I both love and hate this movie. My perspective may be atypical because I don't watch television, follow hockey or read People magazine. I had never heard of Deepak Chopra or Mariska Hargitay before seeing the film and wouldn't recognize Oprah Winfrey if I were seated across from her. Mike Myers's Guru Pitka character is not likable or sympathetic and the romantic angle is not credible in the least, although Jessica Alba seems entirely sincere. Many of the jokes are insipid, some of the homoerotic humor is cringeworthy and a few jokes are pushed too far. But the film offers an abundance of humor at various levels. Ten minutes of this film offers more gags than many comedies offer in their entire length. I especially enjoyed the pop tunes played out of context, the music/dance numbers, the parody of Bollywood films, Ben Kingsley, the sportscasters, Verne Troyer's office, the animal travel cages and the notion of Canadian hockey team dependent on a black superstar. Other parts were extremely stupid, such as the cotton candy, Judi Dench and yoga bits. But there are more than enough gags that hit the mark or reasonably close to overlook the enthusiastic and energetic efforts that fell flat.
