It is the story of an average, popular American teenager named Wendy Wu who discovers that in order to win the coveted crown she must first learn the way of the warrior. Wendy Wu has a one track mind, and that track leads directly to the title of homecoming queen -- no unscheduled stops, and no unnecessary detours. When a mysterious Chinese monk named Shen arrives to mold Wendy into a fearless kung fu warrior, however, her royal aspirations suddenly jump the track as she desperately attempts to juggle her boyfriend, her homework, and of course, the fierce competition to become homecoming queen. Now, as Wendy begins to train her mind, body, and spirit in the ancient tradition of the martial arts and her inner warrior gradually begins to emerge, the girl who once obsessed over popularity finally begins to put that popularity into perspective as she gradually realizes what truly matters in life.

Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Solidrariol Am I Missing Something?
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Clarissa Mora The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
freakfire-1 There isn't more I can say that saying this film was awful. The whole Chineseness is awakened in your being because of the ancestors was a hard sell. But telling the audience that every Chinese knows Chinese history without even studying it just laughable. That is like saying every American knows American history without studying or every Filipino, etc, etc. It just isn't believable. The story is flat out hideous. It talked about Shin being from a Monastery in China - later identifying it from Bejing. However, the early sequences of the film show the map focusing in on Mongolia. I know the current Chinese regime wants to claim areas like Mongolia for its own, granted. But its a distinct nation and it even labels "Mongolia" on the map. Did Disney Studios fail 5th Grade Geography? The relationship between Wendy and Shin is superficial at best, and yet she somehow feels connected to him. Her training is just cheesy as well. And, lets cut to the chase: everything about this film is bad. Its bad enough to laugh at and cry over. The Taekwondo action was over played and unrealistic in many instances. The evil eyes thing was cheesy. However, the left out ending would have been the only descent thing about it. They should have left the evil eyes ending in it. But instead somehow evil is defeated. Yey! Overall, not worth the time of the dog in the film. Brenda Song should get on with another studio. "F"
gajax_13 The movie,Wendy Wu Homecoming Warrior, started off by first introducing Shin Koyamada as Shen,a Buddhist Monk(from China) who is well-trained in martial arts and is destined to battle against the evil and powerful Yan Lo(and die).He can only defeat Yan Lo together with the Yin Warrior who is reincarnated as Wendy Wu,a pampered junior high school girl who is only concerned about popularity, fashion and boys.Wendy is now only concerned if she would become homecoming queen(in her school) but she also have to deal with Jessica Dawson, her rival since she was a child,as Jessica is competing against her to become homecoming queen. However,Jessica has a better chance of winning as she is more responsible with a better record and grades and Wendy is worried when Shen comes along and worsens her mood.Soon Shen manages to convince her(with the assistance of Wendy's grandmother). In the mean time Yan Lo goes around possessing people to get rid of Wendy's powers to prevent his destruction. Finally,Jessica is possessed and Shen together with Wendy have to fight her.Wendy now gave up going to accept her title as homecoming queen and battles Yan Lo.They successfully get rid of Yan Lo and Wendy sends Jessica off to become homecoming queen, giving up her dream she had been having since she was a child.Thankfully,Shen and Wendy destroyed Yan Lo forever without him being able to return and Shen wasn't killed,he is alive and not dead which was what should happen to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That would be the storyline, those who think that it was reasonably good are insane.I mean it was ferociously unrealistic with sudden events like Yan Lo suddenly showing his true form and Shen alive.I particularly felt that Brenda Song HAD FORTUNATELY saved the day as the overall performance of the other actors(especially Shin Koyamada) were relatively poor except for the character of Jessica(Ellen Woglom).Thw whole movie was somewhat hilarious because of the character of Wendy Wu.The factors that spoilt the movie are the storyline and the acting.
shoeshopper871 Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior is a great movie to see with your family, not to violent, so you can be comfortable seeing it with your parents. Even though some of you might think it's corny because there wasn't enough martial arts, Wendy's training for her big battle looked pretty realistic. Brenda Song did a good job in her first starring role, and it was so different from her role in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and considering she had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, it's hard to believe. She has been on so many movies and shows on Disney Channel, in Get a Clue, Stuck in the Suburbs, the Disney Channel Games, and The Suite Life, and guest starring roles in That's So Raven and Phil of the Future. The casting choice was great, the whole movie was filled with lines and actions that were pretty funny, and the movie delivers a good message about sacrificing what you want to do to help others ( if you call Wendy's not going to homecoming after she won homecoming queen a sacrifice...). I can agree with some of the other comments, such as how Shen's temple would have survived the Cultural Revolution, but then again, it's a Disney movie, so what do you expect. This movie has some facts about Chinese culture that most people wouldn't know, but there aren't enough. My favorite part was the party that Wendy took Shen to, and the swimming pool part after. When they made this movie, though, instead of making the monks her teachers, they probably should have made her ancestors that fought Yan Lo her teachers. But all in all, it's very enjoyable. In my mind, it's up there with Gotta Kick It Up!, High School Musical, Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-off, and Stuck in the Suburbs, and deserves a 10/10.
algebrahater89 THis movie is great!!!Every time i start watching it i have to see it all!!!I don't know much about Chinese culture, but from what i learned here it makes me more intrigued!!it was about time Brenda Song got her own movie, because she is far more talented and pretty than the other actresses out there!!It was pure entertainment and i just love the fighting scenes!!!!!I want to kick butt like Wendy Wu!!!The story in itself is original and the chemistry between wendy and shen is seen as soon as they become friends!!!i love how it unfolds. So it's for kids, so what??i like it and i'm sure my mom would find it funny!!I'ts about time Disney showed somebody's elses point of view, instead of the caucasian in America!!With Gotta Kick it Up, they showed the latinos in the San Fernando Valley and that was as good as it got!!Don't expect Disney to show the whole culture, but a little touch of it is lovely, just like this tight movie!!
