Nonureva Really Surprised!
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Sleeper-Cell I love the original BBC Life on Mars. It is gritty and fun. I tried watching the American copy when it first came out and it just didn't work for me. One of the main interests of the original BBC version is Gene Hunt as played by P Glenister. Gene Hunt is a tough 70's cop who has no problem going Dirty Harry to get results. In the BBC version Hunt is much bigger and more physically imposing than Tyler. This forces Tyler to have to get on Hunt's good side and also to on occasion outwit him. And this is where it failed for me in the American version. The American Gene Hunt is smaller, much older and just looks like he can be cast aside easily. It also lacks the grittiness of the original. I didn't get through the first episode and as the series was cancelled mid season due to falling ratings it appears I wasn't the only one. Do yourself a favour and check out the BBC version.
RedlabsRaul I watched 'Life On Mars' during its original run and was incredibly disappointed when it wasn't renewed for a second season. Life on Mars was brilliantly filmed and the sets and props were absolutely well done. Each episode sets its own precedent; exploring its own themes and ideas while still being connected to the major story. Another stand out feature of this series is the music, which is top- notch 70's grooves.I understand there is a British original, however, I don't think I could stand to ruin my opinion of this very well made remake. The ending naturally feels rushed, though, I'm glad there was some kind of resolution to the series. It felt much like the ending of 'October Road' in its rushedness. All in all, however, Life On Mars is worth watching, and re-watching alike.
chrisjones-51312 This is sooooo bad seriously the Americans should seriously stick to theirs own shows as they really foul up on remaking British shows, this along with The Inbetweeners and shameless prove they can not pull it off, please stick to your own shows of which you are good at such as walking dead and breaking bad.
izzo1701 I heavily enjoyed Sam Tyler's trip through 1973. FANTASTIC character acting by Michael Imperioli, and Harvey Keitel - a terrific cast all around. I was sad to see this fine series canceled after just one season, and with that said - the ending seems forced. I didn't quite care for the ending at all - I felt like it was an easy way out and rendered the previous 16 episodes rather meaningless. I was hoping for a more meaningful end than what was delivered by the writers, but HEY that's network television for you. They give you something really, really good, and then they pull the rug out from under you because it isn't consumed by the proverbial masses. In summation, great acting, perfect 1970's sets/surroundings, totally worth your time - give this show a viewing!
