Chappelle's Show Audience Reviews 184p1k

Spoonixel Amateur movie with Big budget
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Bobbie Rousson This is one of my favourite TV shows of all time and one of the greatest sketch comedy TV series ever made in my humble opinion. Dave Chapelle does an amazing job as the host and he is also in pretty much every single sketch that they do on the show. The Rick James bits are of course all time classics and I wish there was more of that, it is a real shame that this show only lasted two seasons before all the bitterness and craziness that made this show end. It's a shame how much great comedy there still could have been if he had decided to stay on the air but I'm still just glad he did these two seasons (avoid the unaired extra episodes they put together after he quit because they are not very good at all and only make the show seem worst). The stuff with Wayne Brady is also classic, and the black blind klan member, and the crack head character, so much great comedy in this series!
robb4964 Dave Chappelle has done what many have failed to do well. He has created a GREAT show based of exaggerations of reality. I have always been a Chappelle fan from day one and the first episode I had ever saw was just confirmation of his comic genius. He covers all the topics that have been covered a million times since the inception of TV comedy but it always has such a completely original flare to it you don't feel cheated like you are hearing recycled jokes. Thats hard to do in a world loaded with great comedians.I watch the show every chance I get and even have some of my favorite clips ed on my computer so I can watch them over and over. He nails the people he impersonates to a T.Charlie Murphy is a great addition to the show. He has a very talented actor that surprisingly enough didn't make it big until Chappele show. Where have you been hiding all these years Charlie? If you watch this show be prepared to laugh you aZZ off and hope that there is an hour of it scheduled. Because if you watch 30 minutes of it you are gonna be begging for more.I do not think there is a funnier television show in existence. Kudos to Dave for leaving when he felt he was being immoral. He chose to be a good person then to take more money and go against his standards of morality. Just be glad he gave us the great gift of comedy at all. Thanks Dave.
S.R. Dipaling My summary line comes from(if you count compilation shows as episodes)the amount of shows this ran for it's two year, two and a half(really)seasons. A shame, really, because between all the material that's out there, and the fertile minds of Chappelle and his writing co-horts(among them co-producer and writing partner Neal Brennan and Charlie Murphy),there could've been so much more than that amount of shows. But alas, between DAve's lack of enchantment of being on a television production rigors and routines(he claimed he never wanted to do more than two seasons)and the network(Comedy Central)'s demand for more shows on THEIR schedule, this show was probably doomed to only go so long. Still, that shouldn't ruin one's enjoyment of the gutsy, edgy comedy supplied here(if anything,it might ENHANCE it)which featured equal parts sketch comedy based out of celebrity parody(riffs on Prince, rapper Lil'Jon,R.Kelly and Samuel L.Jackson stick out)and sly social commentary(his take on shows like "Law and Order" and "Thje Real Wrold "spring to mind). I think I may be interested in checking out the DVD's for extras, suspecting that there may be extra material where that came from. A show that need not be missed, since syndication(WGN,among others)has kept this show circulating. Highly recommended!
Matchstick This is not to say that he is an insult comic, far from it, he is a creative sketch writer and comedian! The Don Rickles observation comes from his comedic smashing of racial barriers and with him and Neal Brennan (a white dude and friends for years). If you look at the first two seasons as a whole, and I mean REALLY look at it, these young guys were seeking comedy for the sake of comedy; just knowing what they know and I think on an unconscious level, breaking down those barriers. If you listen to the audio commentary of the first 2 seasons, you see how these guys relate, and on a comedic level, they get along fluidly.I knew Chappelle was going somewhere when I saw him on Conan O'Brien years ago. He has energy and is hell quick on his feet when making an improvised joke. I'm sort of a comedy geek and in my opinion, Chappelle is probably the brightest comedian to shine post year 2000. I hope he works things out because it would be a shame to see such talent wasted. On the other hand, D.C. & N.B. have given us a boat load of comedy that most comedy shows within 10 years couldn't deliver even if they had 2 years on the air! Thanks Dave and Neal! Good luck and thanks a million for the laughs!!! It was up there with SCTV, prime SNL ('87-92') and Mr. Show. High accolades indeed! Most of the funniest/rawest/truest comedy I have seen in my lifetime!!! Adios.
